The Rainbow Parade took place in Vienna on Saturday, the 2 nd of July.

The main goal of this activity is to provide homosexual couples the same rights as are given to heterosexuals.

The Rainbow Parade took place in Vienna on Saturday, the 2 nd of July.
This demonstration takes place every year since 1995 under the slogan: “For Diversity. Against Discrimination”.

Already two weeks before the parade, Vienna was decorated with rainbow colored flags. The poster on all the trams also reminded everybody of the future event.

The main goal of this activity is to provide homosexual couples the same rights as are given to heterosexuals.
Along with rainbow colored flags, many demonstrators also wore T-shirts with slogans “Make Love, Not Waste”, “The Same Rights for the Same Love”, “Monotheism is Evil”.

The Parade was organized by the Homosexual Initiative (Hosi), pubs, the green party and the socialist party (SPO).
The Parade was sponsored through private donations, support from the city government and the cosmetics company Nivea as a main sponsor.

The demonstration started at 15:00 ( 3 p.m. ) from Stadtpark along the Ring and till Heldenplatz, against driving direction, of course.
When the demonstration reached its destination point, the Vienna burgomaster Dr. Michael Häupl and the clubman of the green party Dr. Alexander Van der Bellen greeted the demonstrators.

It has been reported that over 100000 people took part in the Rainbow Parade this year.
Full cleaning staff followed the demonstration, so the streets were as clean after the Parade passed, as they were before.
